Neck Dissections

Indications for the various techniques of neck dissection can undergo substantial variations according to the localisation of the primary, metastatic situation of the tumour in the neck, biological aggressiveness, number and level of the lymph nodes and philosophies of the attending clinics. Head and neck surgeon should have the knowledge of different basic neck dissection techniques in his or her armamentarium. Using the appropriate neck dissection for the particular patient becomes to be therapeutic for the patient and minimazes the postoperative functional or cosmetic outcome.
