Central Sleep Apnea And The Other Sleep Disorder

aNöroloji AD, Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, BURSA Central sleep apnea syndrome, is characterized by apnea hypopnea index (AHİ) > 5 and apnea-hipopnea more than 50% of which are a central type, weakness PCO2 < 45 mmHg and drowsiness which lasts whole day. Its diagnosis is proven by polysomnographia. Its treatment depends on the underyling cause. The best treatment is continous possitive airway pressure. It is charecterised by Restlees Leg Syndrome and/ or the desire to move extremity together with parestesia, motor motility, aggrevation of symptoms during nights.Most of the patients are thought to be idiopathic. Diagnosis is proven according to clinical criteria. In pharmacologic therapy dopamin agonist are also used in addition to iron replacement. REM Behavior Disorders (RBD) is the apperance of motor signs without atoni during REM sleep. Its prevalance is estimated to be 0.4-0.5%. It is accompanied by neurodegenerative disease such as Parkinson disease, multi system atrofy, lewy body demantia. clonozepam is usefull in treatment. Narcolepsy intensive sleep attacks during daytime, muscle tonus loss which lasts shortly, sleep paralysis and hipnogogic halusinations are important symptoms.Its prevalance ranges from 0.02% to 0.05%. HLA DQ B1-602 is seen 85% and HLA DQ A-102 is seen 95%. Most of the cases are idiopathic. Diagnosis is proven clinicaly. Polysomnography is present in the diagnosis and Multiple Sleep Latency Test indication is present in the suspected patient.
