aNöroloji AD, Uludağ Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, BURSA The first step is clinical suspicion in the treatment of OSAS and than detailed story is in the second step.İn the treatment of OSAS may be helpful in determining the airway, bone and soft tissue variations which may cause apnea. Polysomnography is the gold standart method used to determine the respiratory and other sleep disorders during sleep: A lot of parameters are used in this examination such as Electroencepholography (EEG), electroocolography (EOG), electrocardiography (EKG), jaw and extremitely electromyography (EMG), nasal and/ or oral airflow, abdominal and thoracic respiratory moments, respiratory efforts, oxigen saturation, body position, trakeal sounds. We benefit from EEG to score sleep stages during Polysomnographic records. Respiratory efforts are measured with bandly placed on thorax and abdomen. Some rare examinations may be used to support the diagnosis such as blood and urinary specimen EKG, EKO, Holter, blood pressure follow up, blood gases, respiration function test and pupillometre. Epworth Sleep Scala a subjective evaluation, has been frequently used. Multiple sleep latency test and Maintenance of Wakefullnes test may be done for dose having daytime sleep. Keywords: Polysomnography, electroencepholography (EEG)Turkiye Klinikleri J Surg Med Sci 2007, 3(23):57-61
